Η “μουσική” στους στίχους του Alexandre Pushkin

ENGLISH (για Ελληνικά βλ. παρακάτω):
The “music” in the verses of a Pushkin’s poem

A video with a recorded Alexandre Pushkin’s poem, with  images. This video was used in a presentation on
(a) Pushkin’s works, and
(b) the idea that the inherent “music” in the verses of a poem in its original language, can never be maintained in any translation of the poem.

The video was played to people who mostly did NOT understand Russian, inviting them to concentrate on the sound of the verses in an unknown for them language.

The core of this concept is that the poet invests his verses with meaning directly “into” the framework of the words of his language.
This happens already from the primary phase in which the poet has only a very vague sense of what she is going to compose.

And since poetry does not care for the logical connections that are necessary in any narrative, the words making up the verses carry the emotional charge and the pulse of the poet’s deepest inner universe.

This primordial connection of the words (that are produced on the level of our highest mental functions) with the direct emotions (that exist on the primary non conscious layers of our existence), is one of the most fundamental features of poetry.

This connection is what transforms a text into a “poem” and is directly sensed only in the original language of any poem.
And when a poem is translated, this connection is inevitably almost completely lost.

So, this video is left WITHOUT any translation and subtitles. Let us enjoy listening to it as a chance to get on the level of our basic emotions, beyond our usual mental concern on “what is the meaning of the poem”. Let us enjoy listening to it by kepping inactive our mental part (at least those of us who do not understand Russian), getting in an emotional contact with the primary music of the verses of a poem by this miraculous poet, named Alexandre Pushkin.
